Comment to this entry and I'll pick three of your fandoms. You must then update your journal and answer the following questions:

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

alexiscartwheel gave me "Sailor Moon", "Doctor Who" and "Bones".

Sailor Moon
1. When I was in secondary school, I used to almost run from my school all the way down to the bus station, which took just under fifteen minutes. If I was lucky, I would catch the four o'clock 34 bus. I would sit at the back of the bus with a bunch of girls who were all from the grammar school and we would talk RPG games (principally FFVII, which had just come out) and manga. When I transferred from my first secondary school to the sixth form, I finally got to go to this school. My friends had just discovered Sailor Moon through the internet, which was my first introduction, but my main introduction was the dub (haha) as I was the only one who got Fox Kids, which was showing the anime. The anime never exploded over here the way it did in the US, because the only terrestrial channel to get it showed it at eight o'clock in the morning (WTF?). I also started collecting the manga as soon as possible. But this was before manga was available in bookshops over here, so I had to go to a special shop in Southampton called "Forbidden Planet" to buy them. It took me a long time to collect them all, but I'm so glad I did because I went back there earlier this year and that shop is no longer there. ;_; A little piece of my adolescence was gone.

2. Well, I've been in the fandom for 10 years now (Christ), so I think I'm going to be here a while longer. ^^;;

3. Favourite episodes of BSSM: the episode when Mamoru and Usagi discover each other's identities; the episode when they all find out that Chibi Usa is Mamoru and Usagi's daughter from the future; the flashback episode in S when you find out how Haruka and Michiru met. I love most of the PGSM series, especially the episodes involving Shin and Nephrite working at the arcade with Motoki (it's like a real life Bert & Ernie). And I love the whole manga.

4. I think it's safe to say I write a lot of fanfiction and I used to participate a lot in the Sailor Moon board on ASMR. I wanted to participate in the rewatch on dotmoon but I'm a bit too far behind now and I have to rely on Youtube. ._.

5. Well, it would be nice to have more UK fans of this series. ^^; I need to track down La Mort and borrow her full DVD set. It's a beautiful story of romance and redemption and believing no matter what. What's not to like?

Doctor Who
1. What got me into it? Um, I'm British? *lol* It's part of our national culture! It's like asking what got me into Monty Python. The old series ended just before I turned seven, so I only have vague memories of Seven, but I absolutely adored Ace. My mum and dad were big fans (especially of Tom Baker, who is the ultimate Doctor Who for their generation) so it was always in the background, though I wouldn't say I was a real 'fan' in the way some people are. I was super excited when I heard the BBC was bringing it back, though, especially since it involved Christopher Eccleston. I missed the first series because I was at uni and didn't have a television that worked, but I caught the reruns during the holidays. I think the first episode of the new series I watched was Dalek, which is one of the strongest, and I was hooked. Because I love Nine.

2. As long as it keeps going and being as good as it is (and come on, how could it be bad when it's Steven Moffat?), I'll keep watching.

3. Urgh, okay. Old series: Black Orchid with the Fifth Doctor is one of my favourite episodes ever. It's a bit like The Unicorn and the Wasp for those of you who haven't seen it but it doesn't really involve aliens, it's more of a mystery. Plus, I just adore Five. I was so happy when I saw Time Crash, because it was proof that I wasn't the only one who saw the resemblances between Five and Ten. I always think of Five as the Doomed Youth: young, talented, never able to fulfill his potential. New series, argh, how to choose? Favourite Nine episodes: Dalek; The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances (still remember how my mouth just fell open when Nine revealed Nancy's true identity in TDD, did NOT see that coming); The Parting of the Ways. Favourite Ten episodes: School Reunion; The Girl in the Fireplace; Doomsday; Utopia; The Sound of Drums; nearly all the S4 episodes because David Tennant had the best chemistry with Catherine Tate, there's no doubt about it.

4. Well, I participate in discussion and I just wrote my first DW fanfic, but I wouldn't say I'm as into the DW fandom as some people. It's part of my culture, so it's natural for me to watch and talk about it. I don't really read that much fanfiction. I like watching DW fanvids, though, and intend to make some myself. I think because it's a visual medium, I don't really associate it with fanfiction that much, unlike "Harry Potter" say.

5. Of course, everybody should watch this series and talk about it! :D There's so much to discuss. Plus, there's a new Doctor coming up, so it's the perfect time to start watching. (No more Ten/Rose goo, yaaaaay!)

Bones
1. I'm not sure how I got into this series, really. I just remember catching the first few episodes on Sky 1 (mainly because of David Boreanaz) and really liking the chemistry between the two leads and the dialogue. But then I missed most of it due to being at uni. I caught up last year thanks to a great website. Unfortunately, I lost the URL when my computer crashed and I can't remember the name. ._. And now I make an effort to catch the new episodes when they arrive over here. ^^

2. I know the ending of Season 3 was a big "jump the shark" moment for a lot of people, and it broke many fans' hearts, mine included. But I still wanted to watch Season 4 to see what happened next and because the first two episodes were set in the UK. I was a bit disappointed, as most of the first episode was taken up with the usual cliches and I expect more than that from "Bones", but barring something totally ridiculous, I will continue watching.

3. The Man in the Morgue, for a semi-serious treatment of voodoo (more respect than it's usually afforded); The Woman in Limbo for character development; Aliens in a Spaceship for drama; The Priest in the Churchyard, for interesting discussion of religion and forgivness; The Pain in the Heart; The Perfect Pieces in the Purple Pond, because Zach comes back and we find out the truth, and oh, poor Sweets...

4. I don't really participate in Bones fandom, though I love watching Bones fanvids and discussing the series.

5. Yes. I need to discuss this with people, damn it! :P

Commenting! Pick three of my fandoms - though I really don't have many fandoms... Harry Potter's the most major one. So just pick whatever you know I like. :P

Hey, um... you don't have two MSN names, do you? I keep getting spammed by someone with "sailormoon" in their screenname, and finally told them to take me off their list because I don't even talk to them. Then I remembered *you* like sailormoon. O_o The email I have for you doesn't have that in there, but I wanted to double check.

Edited at 2009-06-21 12:26 pm (UTC)

No, I don't. o.o I'm always Starsea and never anything else (sometimes Stella Maris). Please feel free to block them.

Hmm, your fandoms: Angel, Firefly, Harry Potter. :)

I'll do Buffyverse instead, I've only seen season one of Angel.

You could still watch Sesaons 1 and 2! *big eyes* And yes, Davids are sexy! Don't know how they manage it!

Your three fandoms are: House, Big Love, Scrubs.

I had a very elaborate Sailor Moon fanfiction planned out... never wrote it down... but now I'm thinking it out again and committing the bare bones to paper... *hides under desk*

Oh, and you never told me what you thought of my essay on Les Mis. Was it that bad?

Yesss, write it! :D

And I think that has vanished from my email! :( Please resend?

Ugh... I remember when there were the early morning showings of Sailor Moon on WB Kids. I think it was on for the east coast (I live in Pennsylvania) at around 7:00. I remember always watching Pokemon after it XD
